Sterling Middle School students received high-quality Math instruction
The Principal of Sterling Middle School in Peoria, IL had a dilemma; the school couldn’t find a qualified Math teacher in the Peoria Public Schools district area, and therefore couldn’t offer high quality Math classes to its 8th grade students.
Ms. Lane had two goals in mind to solve the Math teacher vacancy: 1) find a high quality instructor to fill the vacancy and 2) ensure that the students achieve positive academic outcomes as a result of this new instructor. Various schools in the Peoria Public Schools district were already partnering with Elevate K-12 for their Tier 2 small group intervention needs, and their school staff was extremely impressed with the program’s high quality instruction, engaging content, and positive academic outcomes. The district approached Elevate K-12 for their Tier 1 needs to see if they could provide similar high quality core classroom instruction.
Sure enough, Elevate K-12 was ready to step in! Sterling Middle School partnered with Elevate K-12 to bring on a high quality live, online Math instructor, and to develop an engaging, impactful Math curriculum. Students would arrive to class as usual and login to their laptops while the live, online instructor (projected on a screen at the front of the room) took them through the class material and quizzes in a fun, engaging way. A paraprofessional was physically present during class to make sure the students stayed on track.
Students received high quality Math instruction through Elevate K-12’s live, online platform, and Elevate K-12 managed the instructional quality and academic outcomes of the program. A total win-win!
